Hockey 10/28/14

Now as we watch and wait too see how all the teams will do in the long run there are a couple teams and players that have stuck out so far this season. Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks already has two hat tricks so far in this young season and is leading the league in goals so far. Tyler Seguin is leading the league in points this were after some what of a disappointing season last year. Montreal Canadians and the Anaheim Ducks are tied for the leagues best record so far with the record of 8 wins and 2 losses.

This week in English we learned about Revision. Monday's class we talked about revising our papers and I learned a few new ways of doing that and it helped me out a lot when I revised my papers that are due Monday. On Wednesday, we met one on one with Ms. Moses to talk about what she expected with the revisions. I learned from her as she told me to basically narrow my papers down. A couple of my papers themes were to bland and needed fixing and she told me how to do that and gave me ideas on how to narrow it down.

Hockey 10/22/14

As the first 2 weeks of the season are over for the NHL, teams are finally are settling in and have everything set up. Every team seems to have most of there lines set and are seeing who has great chemistry with each other. The Red Wings got there captain Pavel Datsyuk back from injury yesterday and he had an assist. Four teams that had losing records last year have winning records so far this year and they are looking very strong. One team that's surprisingly doing good so far are the Ottawa Senators who seemed to be a very quiet team over the off season, but have had early success so far.

Hockey 10/14/14

The regular season has finally started for the NHL and now teams are finally showing off what they were hiding the whole offseason. A couple teams standing out so far through there first couple of games are the New York Islanders who acquired a new goalie during the offseason and are looking good all around now. Another team that has impressed are the Tampa Bay Lightning who are a young team that are slowing improving and this year could be there first true shot at a Stanley cup since they won in the 03' 04' season. A team that has struggled so far are the Boston Bruins who were some Stanley cup favorites of many people.

Hockey 10/7/14

Tomorrow the season officially begins for the NHL. After a long offseason wait teams can show off what changes they have made in order to become a better team. With that the rookie class of 2014 can show how powerful they are including Florida Panthers first round pick Erik Ekblad who has chosen number one overall by them. In the last few days all of the veterans have returned to there line ups after resting for most of the preseason. The experts picked who they thought would win the Stanley cup this year the other day and most of went with the defending Stanley cup champs the L.A. Kings.

English 10/3/14

On Monday in English we talked about music and the themes in the music that there are. I found it interesting how when you actually look for themes in a song it can be totally different than what you think or could be also similar. On Wednesday in class, we had a reading due and we talked about it during class. I thought the reading was kind of sad because it was two brothers apart from each other and one needed because of drug abuse and the other didn't quite understand. The ending was alright though because they came together and they worked things out.

Hockey 9/30/14

This week in hockey the preseason has continued as teams try to figure out who will be a good fit for there team and who won't. Jason Pominville of the Minnesota Wild has stood out in the preseason so far and looks like he could break out as an all star in the season. Last game he had a hat trick and has looked sharp all around. Peter Mrazek who plays goalie for the Detroit Red Wings looks great so far in the pre season and could earn him a permanent spot on the team instead of switching back and forth from the Red Wings affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins. In other news experts rated the top goalies coming into this year and rated Henrik Lundquist of the New York Rangers first after coming so close to winning a Stanley cup with them last year. They also voted for best defenseman coming into this year and Drew Doughty who plays for the L.A. Kings and led the to the Stanley cup is rated first out of that group.

Another person hurt was Jordan Staal of the Carolina Hurricanes who suffered a lower body injury in the 3rd period of his game. A goalie that has stood out so far is Jonathan Bernier of the Toronto Maple Leafs who got a shutout in his first pre season game and looked very sharp. A player that stood out this past week was Veteran Mikeal Samuelsson who had 3 points in a game against last years Stanley cup winners the L.A. Kings. English 9/19/2014

For English week we did a couple of readings and analyzed in some certain ways. On Monday class was cancelled, but we got an email and it told us to do a couple readings. One of them was from our book and the other was online. They were called "The Lesson:" by Toni Cade Bambara and "Pet Milk" by Stuart Dybek.. In the first one we talked about how the narrator characterizes Miss Moore and if her opinion changed or stayed the same throughout the book. We ended up deciding that she changed her opinion about her a little bit but didn't show respect for her. The other we had to talk about the setting and if it would be different it was somewhere other than it was. We decided that it would be way different if it wasn't in Chicago cause in a small town the descriptions wouldn't be the same. That is what we did and learned about in English this week.

Hockey

For my blog on Tuesday I am going to be talking about hockey and all the interesting news that there is about it. Since I was 5 years old I played hockey and I fell in love with it, so I know a lot of background information and the topic is not new to me. I played all the way up through high school and this is my first year not playing hockey in a long time. My favorite teams are the Detroit Red Wings and the Los Angeles Kings. I love watching hockey as much as possible and whenever its on tv I am very entertained especially if its one of my favorite teams. Some of the things I will be covering through the season are injuries, trades,  exciting games that happen, and also team decisions with certain things happening in their franchise. That is why and what i'm writing about in this topic
